Fruta Conquerors `A’ crowned champions of NAWF champions

GEORGETOWN’S Fruta Conquerors `A’ defeated Bartica’s Striking Dolls in the final; of the National Association of Women’s Football (NAWF) `Revival’ Tournament at the Tucville ground on Sunday.Fruta Conquerors, playing at home, defeated their `B’ team counterparts by a 1-0 margin through a Kindra Thomas ninth minute goal to set up a date in the final with the winners of the other semi-final Striking Dolls, who brushed aside Piaomak Warriors of Annai 3-1 on penalty kicks after the normal time for the seven-a-side tournament ended goalless.
In the final, Shenell Daniels netted a double for Fruta `A’ in the 12th and 13th minutes. Both teams received their respective trophies.
In the third place play-off, Fruta Conquerors `B’ beat Piaomax Warriors 2-0 on penalty kicks, after the game ended scoreless at the end of regulation time.
For their valiant effort and the distance they travelled to be a part of the event, Piaomax Warriors were presented with playing kits by the University of Guyana.
The kits were handed over to the team by Challos McKennon in the presence of Minister within the Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs Valerie Garrido-Lowe.
