Banks DIH maintains support of Caribbean’s top shots

BEVERAGE giants Banks DIH Limited has maintained and increased its sponsorship to the Guyana National Rifle Association (GuyanaNRA), fullbore shooters ahead of their defence of the Short Range and Individual Titles at the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championships set for Antigua and Barbuda, next month.Public Relations Officer of Banks DIH, Troy Peters in presenting the cheque to GuyanaNRA secretary Ryan Sampson related that the company is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year and has remained steadfast in its support of one of the oldest sports associations in Guyana. The GuyanaNRA is set to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2017 with a gala championship which will see a number of the world’s powerhouses on the range competing.
“Banks DIH Limited has been a major sponsor of rifle shooting over the years and we are extremely happy to be supporting the local shooters in their quest to retain championship honours. We know that the team will make Guyana proud in Antigua,” Peters stated.
Sampson in response expressed thanks to Peters and to Banks for their continued commitment to the association noting that their unflinching support has allowed Guyana to be the reigning Short and Long Range as well as Individual champions of the Caribbean.
“We at the Guyana NRA are eternally grateful to Banks for their committed partnership with us for as long as I can remember. No doubt you have continued to add the necessary drive for us to succeed and this year will be no different. As champions we will endeavour to continue the tradition of being the Caribbean’s best on the ranges.”
Lennox Braithwaite is the reigning Individual Champion for the past three championships. The GuyanaNRA has a budget of $4.6 million for the 10-member team to attend this year’s championships set for Antigua and Barbuda, May 16-22.
