(SPORTSMAX) – West Indies Women’s team batting star Deandra Dottin has been signed by Lancashire Thunder for the inaugural Women’s Super League.Dottin was a key component of the regional women’s triumph at the recently concluded ICC World T20.
The 24-year-old all-rounder took two wickets in a tense final against Australia before holding her nerve with the bat to lead the team over the line in the final over.
Earlier, Dottin starred for the Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash.
Dottin is the first woman to score a T20 hundred in international cricket, doing so off just 38 balls. The player will be joined by Australian all-rounder Sarah Coyte.
Lancashire head coach Steve Titchard believes getting both players will be a key move for the English team.
“Deandra plays exactly the brand of exciting cricket that we feel Thunder will represent and we look forward to seeing her with both bat and ball,” he said.
“Sarah brings a really good balance to the team and has played on the biggest stage with great success; she will be a great addition to the squad.”
