WICB set to host an Event Workshop

THE West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is preparing for upcoming home series in one-day internationals and Tests starting June this year. That schedule will start with the Tri-Nation with South Africa and Australia and the India series in July along with the fourth running of the Caribbean Premier League.
While the players were dominating on the field of play and winning championships in the just concluded 2016 ICC World Twenty20, West Indies were winning in another key area – Event Planning.
Commercial Manager, Nelecia Yeates was also in India and is back in the region where she brings back with her valued exposure and experiences from the recently concluded Championship.
That work will be put to a test this coming weekend, when she will be among a small group of the officials from the Secretariat who will share with event planners, operations and marketing personnel from the cricket community, in a two-day event workshop to prepare staff for the upcoming series in the region.
The sessions are being held in Barbados April 15 and 16 and will include 40 cricket officials who will interact with each other on the following topics::
• Execution of host agreements
• Event planning – pre, during and post
• Medical and security requirements
• Finance and Planning
• Cricket Operations
• Marketing and use of new media platforms
The two-day workshop is aimed at bringing each regional board up-to-date with the most recent requirements while offering them an opportunity to share ideas with each other and the WICB.
“While the upcoming series are important, in 2018, the West Indies will host the Women’s Twenty20 World Championship, and this is just one in a series of the Event Planning workshops the board will put on.
“We hope to achieve the common goal to maintain and improve on West Indies being one of the top destinations for cricket in the world,” noted Yeates.
She added that “this will help to sensitise the cricket professionals around the region to what is required and how the region can benefit from being good hosts”. All the territorial boards and venue owners have confirmed their participation.
