FORMER City Councillor Anthony Boyce, known as ‘Professor Trini’ or ‘Trini Boy’, who served the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC) for 22 years, died last Friday subsequent to a period of illness.

Georgetown Mayor Patricia Chase-Green made the announcement to the Council at Monday’s statutory meeting. It was the first announcement after the first meeting of the new Council convened at City Hall.

Everyone stood for a moment of silence in his honour, as was requested by Mayor Chase-Green.

Boyce, 64, entered the City Council in 1994 under the Good Green Guyana (GGG) Environmental Group that was headed by former Mayor Hamilton Green.

He served in that capacity up to the point of Local Government Elections last month.

Boyce served on several committees of the Council, including the City Works Committee and the Personnel and Training Committee.

Mayor Chase-Green recalled that Boyce was a rather articulate and aggressive City councillor.
