PATANJALEE ‘Pur’ Persaud streaked away from the field to win the second Heineken golf tournament on Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Course, East Coast Demerara.Persaud posted a gross 83 and a net score of 68 to finish on top, ahead of Asrodeen Shaw, who had a gross 87 and a net score of 68.
Brian Hackett had to settle for third, with a gross 89 and a net 69.
Best Gross was won by Avinash Persaud (75), while Nearest to the Pin went to Brian Glasford, and Longest Drive (315 yards) went to Richard Haniff.
After the win Persaud said he was pleased with his performance.
“The grounds – the fairways and the greens were in fine condition. I played carefully, and apart from two holes (in the back nine) where I lost five points, the rest of my game was excellent,” Persaud pointed out.
Golf Club president Oncar Ramroop expressed gratitude to Ansa McAl for its continued support towards the development of the sport locally.
