Twenty-three-year-old Jose Singh of Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, who suffered life-threatening injuries when he fell from a coconut tree a week ago, remains warded at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in a critical condition.Singh, who sustained spinal injuries; injuries to the head and neck; fracture to the left leg and internal concussions, earlier had surgeries, but was on Tuesday taken back to theatre for further surgical intervention.

He has so far had Computerised Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans for injuries suffered to the head and neck, but is not doing well. His parents are praying for his recovery.

On March 24, Singh who sells pointer brooms to help his parents and five siblings eke out a living, went up into a coconut tree where he had gone to cut branches.

Unfortunately, unknown to anyone, he fell from the tree and was later spotted by his sister who saw his limp body – motionless on the ground.
An alarm was raised and Jose was rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, soon after being transferred to the GPHC, where he is currently still in a critical condition.
