Accused of killing minibus driver

TWENTY-THREE-year old Kerry Cromwell of King Edward Street, Albouystown who had recent clashes with the law, found himself up the court steps again. He was yesterday remanded by magistrate Fabayo Azore after he was accused of killing minibus driver Elvin Lorrimer.Cromwell denied the charge which stated that on March 21, 2016 at the Linden bus park in Georgetown he murdered Lorrimer.

According to the facts presented to the court by the police prosecutor, Lorrimer was at the park on the day in question and the defendant was seen shooting him before escaping. Lorrimer obtained injuries and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed during surgery.

He also related to the court that the defendant was placed on an identification parade where he was positively identified by an eyewitness.

Cromwell who was unrepresented told the court that he was arrested and he had to report to the Brickdam Police Station every day. He said he was called in and placed on an identification parade.

The matter is adjourned until April 29, 2016.
