Dear Editor,
I HAVE read, with a great deal of interest in the last few days, the comments about Brian Tiwarie; and I wish to invite the public to examine a few acceptable facts. The first fact is that no man is perfect. There is good in the worst of us, and there is bad in the best of us.
The second concept is that Jesus came into this world to save sinners, not the righteous.
The third concept is that this current Government has declared openly that it has been elected to serve ALL the people of Guyana, whether they are PPP/C, WPA, PNCR or AFC; or belonging to any other group.
Now, if one tries to apply these concepts to the comments made about Brian Tiwarie, one has to ask whether those comments are fair; because, what is wrong with a person being a strong PPP/C supporter but deciding to support the current Government? Isn’t this not what the present Government is about?
One of the criticisms is why was Brian Tiwarie granted a Diplomatic Passport. Well, the answer is clear: he is the Honorary Consul of Spain in Guyana, and as such is automatically entitled to the Diplomatic Passport.
While it is a good thing to openly comment on Government’s policy, one has to consider a number of matters, such as I have mentioned herein, so as to ensure that criticisms made are constructive.
The Opposition party in Guyana seems to make an issue of matters, even those that are acceptable. It does not assist the current Government to achieve unity, prosperity, and good living in Guyana.
What is wrong if the current Government accepts from the Opposition someone who is willing to make a contribution by supporting this Government to ensure that the entire Guyana achieves racial harmony and unity for the development of a peaceful and prosperous Guyana?
Respectfully,
JONAS M.F. CODDETT
