Pollard smashes hundred in massive Queen’s Park win

KIERON Pollard has returned from injury with a bang. The West Indies all-rounder, who is missing from the team in the final of the ICC World T20 because of a knee injury that had not healed in time, slammed an unbeaten 110 to help lead Queen’s Park to a 251-run victory over Tableland in the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) 50-over competition on Wednesday. The West Indies T20 star smashed 10 towering sixes and seven fours off 55 balls and he and Jeremy Solozano, 148, propelled Queen’s Park to 378 for six.
Solozano, the left-handed opener, went more than a run-a-ball, smashing 21 balls to the boundary in his 137-ball knock.
Pollard joined Solozano at 189 for five after 32 overs and proceeded to destroy the bowling attack.
Negus Carthy, 3 for 64, was the best bowler for Tableland in his 10 overs.
Tableland never got close to the victory target as Kharry Pierre, 4-41, and left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein, 3-24, skittled out the visitors for 127 in 35 overs.
Elsewhere, Ewart Nicholson scored an unbeaten century to steer Powergen to an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Clarke Road United.
Clarke Road were bundled out for a modest 202 in 49.4 overs. Powergen replied with 204 for one with Nicholson scoring 102 not out. Videsh Sookhai was unbeaten on 61 at the end. (Sportsmax.com)
