Patricia Chase – Green was officially elected Mayor of Georgetown on Friday, while APNU+AFC Candidate, Sherod Duncan was elected as Deputy Mayor.

Chase – Green was nominated for the post by Oscar Clarke who is a former councillor and People’s National Congress General-Secretary; the nomination was seconded by Alfred Mentore. She was the only person nominated; the majority voted in her favour while the PPP abstained from voting.

Prior to assuming this post, Chase – Green served as Deputy Mayor at City Hall under former Mayor Hamilton Green.

After being elected today, Chase – Green become emotional. Duncan was nominated for the post by Trichria Richards; he too was the only person nominated and the PPP again abstained from voting.

Meanwhile, Oscar Clarke has been elected as Chairman of the  Finance Committee.
