THE Pele Football Club will be celebrating its 45th anniversary with a football festival starting on Saturday at the Georgetown Football Club with a number of matches.The Festival which concludes on April 1 will see school and club teams as well as veterans and former national overseas based players battling for honours.
On Saturday, Stella Maris and St. Stephens girls will face off in Under -15 and Under- 17 matches, while on the same day, Pele Masters will oppose its overseas based veterans.
The feature game on Saturday will bring together Pele’s Elite and Alpha United’s Elite.
On Sunday, There will be a Youth FunDay and sports contests’ where free kites will be given to the first 20 youths going into the venue as well as free drinking mugs to the first 20 adults entering the venue.
The youths participating in the Festival will also receive free meals.
On April 1, Pele will take on Santos in under 15 as well as under 17 encounters while the overseas masters will face their Guyanese based counterparts and finally, Pele Elite Reserves will come up against Santos Seniors’.
All games will be played at the GFC ground, Bourda and admission to all games is free.
