A LAB technician attached to the Bartica Hospital was Monday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the unlawful possession of a gun and ammunition.Shemroy Peters, 32, of Bartica denied the charge, which alleges that on March 20, 2016 at Itabali Police Check Point, Mazaruni River he had in his possession a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol.
Peters also pleaded not guilty to another charge, which alleges that on the same occasion, he had in his possession seven live rounds of 9mm ammunition. Peters was unrepresented and was remanded to prison until April 18.
The matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
