Accused of stealing gold chain

CHIEF Magistrate Ann McLennan on Thursday released a 31-year-old man after he was accused of breaking into a home and stealing a gold chain.

Joel DeBeazer, who told the court that he was a businessman denied that on March 4 in Georgetown he broke into the dwelling home of Calvin Ramotar and stole a $240,000 gold chain.
DeBeazer claimed that the complainant was in the habit of threatening and abusing him and that the property was co-owned by him.
The accused pointed out that Ramotar would often trail him in his car and hurl insults at him.
After hearing DeBeazer’s claims, the Chief Magistrate adjourned the matter for statements on April 11.
