RAWLE Frank easily took care of Venezuelan Orlando Orozco in Miami, Florida, on March 18, 1995. The 26-year-old welterweight Frank won by technical knockout (TKO) in the sixth round over an opponent 12 years his senior.It was the 14th victory for the orthodox Guyanese boxer in 18 fights. Later in his career Frank twice challenged the now deceased Vernon Forrest for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight title.
The first contest was staged in August 2000 and ended in a No-Contest while Forrest easily won the next by a unanimous decision the following year.
After taking up permanent residence in the USA, Frank returned to Guyana in 1992 for two memorable encounters with Michael Benjamin, who was then the most-talked-about fighter in the country.
Benjamin won both on points. Frank claimed the vacant USBA welterweight title in October 1997 with a split decision victory over Purcell Miller then moved on to win the USBA and IBF Latino super welterweight t titles.
His last fight was on home soil in November 2010 when he gained a unanimous decision over `Deadly’ Denny Dalton at the Princess Hotel and Casino. He ended his career with 29 victories (14 KOs), five defeats and three draws.
