ALMOST a year after Ganesh Ramlall, the 48-year-old Regent Multiplex Mall proprietor was robbed and killed at his La Jalousie home on the West Coast of Demerara, another man has been charged with his murder.



On Thursday, Kurt Erskine, 35, of Section ‘C’ Golden Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara was remanded to prison until March 29 after the charge was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
On July 5, 2015 Erskine allegedly murdered the businessman, during the course of a robbery. He was not required to plea to the capital offence. Thereafter, the Magistrate transferred the matter to Lenora Magistrates’ Court.
On July 19, 2015 Fazeel Bacchus 21, of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara and Lennox Roberts, 32, of Tushen Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, both taxi drivers, were also remanded to prison after being charged with Ramlall’s murder.
According to reports, the businessman had just returned home and was going to use the outside bathroom when he was confronted by four men who shot him about his body and took away his licensed firearm, jewellery and a wallet.
Ramlall was later pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
