TWO CUBAN Nationals were on Friday fined $70,000 each after they appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan charged with intent to defraud a police officer.The charges stated that Roberto Francisco and Lavis Vasco on March 3, 2016 at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, with intent to defraud a police constable produced forged United States Permanent Resident Cards.
The two men pleaded guilty to the charges and they were immediately fined. They were ordered to pay the fines or by default they would be sentenced to four months’ imprisonment.
Magistrate McLennan also ordered that the two be escorted to the nearest port after the fine is paid or time is served.
