Bail denied man on drugs charge

CITY Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Friday remanded a Ruimveldt resident to prison after he made his appearance before her on a narcotics charge.
Twenty-year-old Junior Archer of North Ruimveldt pleaded not guilty to the charge after the Administration of Justice Act was applied.
The charge stated that on March 1, 2016 at Princes Street, Charlestown, Archer had in his possession 907 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the facts presented to the court, an operation was conducted by ranks of the Guyana Police Force in Princes Street, Charlestown, and they found the illegal drugs.
Archer’s Lawyer asked the court for his client to be allowed to have a surgery completed while he was incarcerated. The magistrate granted him permission to undergo his operation.
However, bail was denied and he was remanded until March 30, 2016.
