Following a riot sparked by the prisoners, inmates as well as officers were rushed to the hospital after receiving injuries during the confrontation.

The injured included: (Prisoners) – Edinborough, Nigel Armstrong, Sukdeo Dharamdat, Joel Jones, Seon Edwards, Devendra Persaud, Floyd Rammit and Mark Angoy; ( Officers) – Roy Shanks, Jason Maltay, Andrew Moore, Travis Gould, Errol Daphness and June Lewis-Charles.
This information was confirmed by a senior official within the hospital.
Meanwhile, speaking to members of the media at the GPHC, Minister of Public Health Dr George Norton highlighted that the situation was under control and the staffers were working hard to ensure that order was maintained and patients treated.
Apart from the one patient nursing a gunshot wound, the minister said that the majority of the patients suffered from the inhalation of gas.
He also alluded to the fact that “knowing the situation of the accident and emergency department, it has its limitations. As such, I would love to see the necessary changes being made to adjust the department, to treat a patient who arrived there.”
When asked about the state of the infirmary at the jail, Dr Norton said that more medical professionals were needed there and subsequent to a recent visit, a number of persons have been identified to undergo training.
