FIVE persons narrowly escaped death after the car in which they were traveling in was rammed by another which was traveling in the opposite direction.The accident took place just before 17:00rs at Success, East Coast Demerara.
According to information reaching the Guyana Chronicle, motorcar PFF was proceeding west along the East Coast carriageway when another vehicle careened into it.
Those injured have been identified as Saleem Amin,18; Charmaine Ramjattan,25; Leen Ramjattan,20; and Kameatti Budhram,37, all from the West Coast Demerara, along with another person who this publication was unable to identify.
It is not clear where the injured were heading or was returning from at the time of the accident.
Over at the Beterverwagting Police Station, East coast Demerara, the badly damaged Sprinter motorcar was parked in the police station compound with extensive damage to its right side, which seems to corroborate the story of the occupants that another car careened into it.
At the Georgetown Public Hospital, three of the injured were seen in wheelchairs being attended to by a doctor.
The police are continuing their investigations into that accident.
Meanwhile, at Enmore Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, a female reportedly suffered minor injuries when the vehicle she was traveling in ended up in a trench there. Persons living close by rushed to the assistance of the woman and several others in the vehicle and pulled them to safety. It is unclear if that accident was reported to the police.
