AN 18-member delegation representing the Georgetown Cricket Association, Upper Demerara Cricket Association, East Coast Cricket Board and also concerned ‘Cricket Stakeholders’ from Essequibo, East Bank Demerara, West Demerara and Berbice visited the office of the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Hon. The delegation argued that the Court order which prevents the holding of elections by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and its three County Board Members must be dismissed in order for the holding of free, fair and transparent elections.
The meeting was described as “extremely fruitful, according to a release issued, and a course of action was discussed about the holding of proper elections for the first time in five (5) years.
Prior to meeting the Attorney General, the cricket stakeholders met with the Hon. Minister of Education with responsibility for Sport, Dr Rupert Roopnaraine and also the National Sports Commission.
