A BRILLIANT all-round performance by Kevlon Anderson spearheaded Rose Hall Town (RHT) Farfan and Mendes team to an easy 112-run victory over Blairmont in the Berbice Cricket Board-sponsored Tenelec Under-15 cricket final, played last weekend at the Blairmont Community Centre ground.The richly talented Anderson, with support from Bhaskar Yadram rescued their team after they were bowled out for a mere 67 in the first inning.
Batting first after losing the toss, the visitors found life difficult on a wicket full of moisture and fell inside 34 overs. Anderson and Yadram made 22 and 16 respectively.
Bowling for the home team, Noel Deodat took 3-9, Samuel Glasgow 3-15 and Javid Karim 2-17.
In response, Blairmont were bundled out for 42 in 18.3 overs, as Yadram successfully attacked them with a series of short-pitched bowling to bounce them out.
S. Denal was the only Blairmont batsman to reach double figure, as Yadram claimed 7-22 from 9.3 overs.
Left-arm spinner Keith Simpson supported with 3-15 from nine overs. With a vital lead of 25 runs, RHT Farfan and Mendes led by a superb unbeaten 108 from Anderson reached 180 all out in their second turn at the crease.
Anderson faced 208 balls for his crucial innings and struck five boundaries. It was the third century in four innings for Anderson. He received support from Yadram 20, Keith Simpson 15 and Quinton Crandon 16.
Left-arm spinner Nigel Deodat claimed 7-78 bowling for the losing team.
Set 206 for an outright victory, Blairmont were bowled out for 92. Opener Javid Khan offered the only resistance with an aggressive 48.
Anderson returned with the ball to take 5-14. Anderson was later named man-of-the-final.
