CHINESE in British Guiana celebrated their New Year with a lavish dinner at Chinese Association Hall on Brickdam (January 23, 1966), to which several prominent people were invited. Among the invitees were the Speaker of the House of Assembly Mr A.P Alleyne, who is pictured second from left. To Mr Alleyne’s left are Mrs P. D’Aguiar, wife of the Finance Minister, Mr Chow Kee, President of the Association and Mr P.S Thirsk, Deputy Governor.
