THE opposition PEOPLE’S Progressive Party/Civic (PPPC) Monday announced that it will nominate persons to all Local Government constituencies, except, Mocha, East Bank Demerara. The party will present its lists of candidates at the various offices to contest the Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs), plus nine town councils.
The Party declared that it will be contesting the elections with an equal number of PPP Candidates and an equal number of candidates from its Civic arm.
“The Party is pleased to announce that it has struck the 50-50 balance between PPP and Civic candidates, who will be contesting seventy (70) of the seventy-one (71) Neighbourhood Democratic Councils,” the PPP said in a statement.
“We wish to make it clear that the decision to contest these elections is premised on the confidence and optimism the Party has in the electorate’s ability to make the right choices, as well as their determination to prove to country and the world at large that, notwithstanding the challenges and obstacles it continues to face with GECOM’s electoral machinery, the biased nature of its electoral officials and the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer, the PPP/C is the people’s choice to take Guyana forward,” Rohee said in a statement released by the party.
