Britton, Edghill to clash in Under-21 final
SHEMAR Britton will take on Kyle Edghill today in the final of the Under- 21 male division in the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Senior National Championships currently in progress at the National Gymnasium.During yesterday’s knockout, Britton beat off Elishaba Johnson four games to one for his final spot, while Edghill beat off Kevon Corbin by the same margin.
Today’s final will pit two of the best players in the division against each other in an all-out clash to determine the best Under-21 player.
In the ‘B’ class open, up to press time the quarter- finals were yet to be contested.
Kyle Edghill was pitted against Alec Hopkinson in the first game, while Kevon Corbin was expected to play Miguel Wong.
Jody Ann Blake was pitted against Nicholas Romain, while Brad Belle and Elishaba Johnson were in the fourth quarter-final game.
In the ‘C’ class, Nicholas Romain will play Tyriq Saunders in the finals.
Saunders took his spot in the finals after beating off Shavin Greene (3-2), while Romain beat off Kaysan Ninvalle by the same margin.
On the ladies U-21 front, Chelsea Edghill finished atop the rankings with four points, while Selenas Jackman finished second and Aneka Phillips third.
