TOOWAN Fraser, 27, appeared at the Linden Magistrates Court to answer to the charge of unlawfully wounding elderly taxi driver Trevor Williams of 313 Block 22, Wismar, Region 10.Williams testified that on April 14, 2015, Toowan Fraser carelessly overtook his vehicle and slammed into its back. The defendant then drove off, and he followed him to the Wismar Bus Park, where he confronted him about hitting his vehicle. Fraser became irate and dealt him two lashes with a wood to his forehead and his eye. He had to be assisted by some public-spirited persons to regain his balance after becoming dizzy.
Williams said he drove to the Mackenzie Police Station, made a report about what had happened, and was asked to obtain a medical certificate detailing his injuries. He then went to the Mackenzie Hospital, where he was examined and treated by a doctor, who filled out a medical report.
The unrepresented Fraser, himself a taxi driver residing in Block 22, was asked by Magistrate Clive Nurse if he has anything to ask the virtual complainant, and he answered in the affirmative.
Fraser then asked Williams whether he had notified him that he had hit his car, and with what attitude he had approached, since that is what prompted him to retaliate.
Trevor Williams responded that he approached him on the said day and he came out of his car and began to be violent towards him.
Fraser will make his next appearance in court on January 19.
