ROY SINGH, a 46-year-old homeless man who works at the Stabroek Market as a porter, was yesterday sentenced to one month imprisonment after he admitted to the charge of simple larceny.
As he made his appearance before City Magistrate Annette Singh he told the court that he was guilty as stated by the Police Prosecutor. The facts stated that on the January 2, 2016 at America and London Streets, the defendant went to Christine Dookie’s stall to collect a bag. As the virtual complainant turned to her husband to inquire about the bag, the defendant stole a pack of soap powder, two hair cutting machines and 24 tooth brushes valued a total of $7,500.
