BRIAN Muller pulled off his 20th professional victory when he secured a 10-round majority decision over Matthew Lewis on January 13, 1986 at the Forum in Inglewood, California. The southpaw Muller was unblemished in six years when he came up against Lewis, his last defeat coming at the hands of Mark Harris on Boxing Day in 1980.
In an exciting affair Harris won by split decision after 12 rounds. In the first three years of his career Muller had taken on and defeated some of the best that Guyana had to offer. He came out unscathed against the legendary Lennox Beckles, had back-to-back victories against Albert Browne and triumphed over vastly skilled Reggie Ford.
Muller, a must on Guyana’s top ten fighters of all-time, later moved to the greener pastures of North America where he continued to reap success.
He engaged in 11 fights there, losing only twice. The slick southpaw middleweight made his last professional appearance in June 1986 and suffered a TKO in the seventh round while challenging Frank Tate.
Muller turns 62 in June and resides in Nevada, USA.
