ECCB/Elizabeth Styles Cricket Tournament Better Hope ‘A’ and ‘B’ clash in Sunday’s final

THE ENTIRE village of Better Hope will come alive on Sunday at the Better Hope Community Centre as the Community’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ sides clash for supremacy in the final of the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) premier competition, sponsored by U.S.-based business entity Elizabeth Styles.A large crowd is expected since Better Hope Sports Club, for the very first time, dominated the entire competition.
Both teams played excellent cricket throughout the tournament and the contest is expected to be a thriller with the B team vowing to take the first prize of $350 000 and the winners’ trophy.
Other prizes include $50 000 for the second-placed team and a beautiful trophy for the player-of-the-match.
With the likes of explosive players Suresh Budhu, Ravie Singh, Chris Deonarine among others in the A-team, it will be a challenging task for their opponents.
The A-team also comprises an excellent outfit which includes captain Clive Rampersaud, Daniel Kowlessar, Mulchand Singh, Kevin Rampersaud and Jayadev Mana.
The A team squad: Suresh Budhu (captain), Chris Deonarine, Ricknauth Rooplall, Asad Mohamed, Ravie Singh, Wayne Narine, Nazim Khan, Imran Khan, Rasheed Rohoman, Danesh Mangal, Avinash Mohabir, Raza Mohamed, Sultan Rooplall and Navin Bishun. The manager/coach is Paul Singh.
The B team squad: Clive Rampersaud (captain) Kevin Rampersaud, Daniel Kowlessar, Roy Rampersaud, Sachin Singh, Jayadev Mana, Amir Khan, Ryan Premchand, Mulchand Singh, Mustafa Azimulla, Rajendra Dhanraj, Chandra Mohan and Sylvan Kowlessar.
The manager is Jagnarine Singh and the coach is Robbie Harriprashad. The umpires are Charles Gibbons and Kenelyn Baker while the match referee is Judister Rampersaud.
The action is expected to start promptly at 10.30hrs.
