Farmer remanded on intent to murder

TWENTY-SEVEN-year old Michael Robertson yesterday made his way to the courtroom of City Magistrate Fabayo Azore, charged with intent to commit murder. It is alleged that Robertson on December 30, 2015 at Orinduik, Port Kaituma, caused grievous bodily harm to Joseph King, with intent to commit murder. He was not required to plead to the charge.
According to Robertson’s lawyer Peter Hugh, his client earns an honest living as a farmer and resides within Orinduik village.
Hugh did not give specifics of the facts of the matter, but explained that the issue arose from a confrontation when his mother brought a man into his home and that man tried to kick him out.
The prosecutor did not delve into the facts, but told the court that King was still in hospital receiving medical attention.
Magistrate Azore refused the farmer bail and remanded him until January 7 when he will make an appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
