Man knifed to death by uncle

Police are preparing to lay murder charge against a 64-year-old East Bank Berbice man after he stabbed his 43-year-old nephew to death at Supply Mahaica on Sunday.

According to information reaching the Guyana Chronicle on Monday morning, Sheldon Richards and his uncle were imbibing at Sheldon’s home along with other relatives when an argument broke out between the uncle and nephew.

The nephew reportedly armed himself with a rolling pin and inflicted several lashes on his uncle who picked up a knife and stabbed him about the body. The uncle who operates in the Berbice area as a carpenter was taken into police custody while the 43-year-old died on the spot from the injuries which were inflicted on him. Police sources said that the postmortem performed on the remains of Richards found that he died as a result of haemorrhagic shock. The file in the matter has since been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice.
