THE National Sport Commission (NSC) handed out Christmas cheer to three former athletes and administrators who gave worthwhile contributions to various sport disciplines in their younger years.Director of Sport Christopher Jones along with newly appointed commissioner Lavern Frazer made house-to-house donations to the persons and presented them with care-hampers in keeping

with the Christmas season.
The first, a former local and national netball player Jeanette Lovell was surprised by the initiative and thanked the NSC for recognising her.
“I’m very pleased. I can tell you that when I started playing the game, I never looked for anything; it was just a game I grew to love. I’ve gotten so much from the game over the years (39 years),” said Lovell.
The next on the stop list was former WBA champion Pamela London who told the media, “I am grateful for this. I am a former world champion and I deserve this.”
The third stop was to national middle distance runner Moses Dwarka who also indicated his pleasure at being considered by the NSC for such a humble donation.
He reminded of his younger days when he used to play for the then British Guiana team and recounted all the joys he had suiting up to represent his homeland.
Director of Sport Christopher Jones in an invited comment indicated that they are pleased to value individuals who had an input in the sector.
“We at the NSC see the need to value those who have made invaluable contributions to the sport sector and this is just our way of ensuring that they know we still value them,” contended Jones.
Burdette Marhsal was the fourth person to receive a hamper while a fifth is still unnamed.
