– Milerock outclass Eagles United 3 – 1

Milerock FC outclassed Eagles United 3-1 while Federal Winners Connection led by a hat-trick from Marmalaque Davidson blanked Blueberry Hill 3-0 on day two of the Upper Demerara Football Association’s (UDFA) GT Beer Cup at the Mackenzie Sports Club.Playing in the first game of the double-header on Friday last, Eagles United shocked the Petra Organisation champions with an early goal which came when a cross from the right side caught the centre back of Milerock flat footed and Kweksi Quintyn converted the chance given in the 7th minute.
By the 39th minute Milerock was able to settle and play the type of football they’re popular for, as striker Clarence ‘Shark’ Huggins received the ball from Ron Fiedtkou, and while backing his marker, he (Huggins), turned goal-wards his shot to the top corner of the net and levelled the game 1 – 1.
Milerock broke the deadlock in the 81st minute with the dangerous Huggins in isolation with the Eagles United custodian Odel Adams who was brought down in the ‘box’ and was awarded a penalty.
Jermaine Granderson scored from the ‘spot’ and Milerock took a 2 – 1 lead.
Three minutes later Kester Randolph would get his name on the score sheet. The build-up was there and the ball was slipped through the defence before a cross, which was pulled back by Huggins and for Randolph to complete the scoring for a polished 3-1 win eventually.
Meanwhile, the reigning champions Federal Winners Connection were off to a nice start with the emerging talented Marmarlaque Davidson netting all three goals.
Davidson’s first was scored in the 15th minute and he copped the others in the 39th and 46th minutes.
Winners Connection will now play the winner of the Amelia’s Ward Panthers and Botafago match tonight.
