Sold boyfriend’s gold chain

A typist accused of stealing her boyfriend’s $400,000 gold chain because he refused to give her money was yesterday released on bail after a charge of simple larceny was read to her by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.Ashmalie Alves, 22, of Block 6 Sparta, East Bank Essequibo on Monday made an appearance at the City Magistrate Court on a simple larceny charge which alleged that she stole Tyson Collins’ gold chain on December 5 at his West Rumiveldt home.
According to Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones, the defendant and the complainant shared a relationship and were living together. On the date in question, Alves left the house with the chain without Collins’ permission. Jones said she sold the said chain because her boyfriend refused to give her money.
Alves was granted bail and will return to court on January 7, 2016.
