A TEENAGER was yesterday remanded to prison after he appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged with robbery. Eighteen-year-old Akeem Jones of Mandela Avenue denied the charge which read that on November 24 at Hadfield Street, he robbed Tamara Sookhoo of two cellular phones valued $17,000 with the use of personal violence against Sookhoo during or after the robbery.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne objected to bail based on the seriousness and prevalence of the offence and the penalty it attracted. She added that a medical certificate was also presented to prove the complainant’s injuries.
The Prosecutor further revealed that the articles were recovered on the accused, adding that the file was incomplete. The young man was remanded to prison and will make his second appearance in Court on December 8.
