THE Department of Natural Resources and the Environment (DNRE) said it has taken note of a recent article in the media, which incorrectly indicates that there has been a change in the name of the Georgetown Botanical Gardens.The Department, in a statement, said it wishes to clarify that the name of the Gardens has not changed.
The Georgetown Botanical Gardens is part of Guyana’s National Protected Areas System, and currently falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Ministry of the Presidency. The area has been identified for phased rehabilitation, with the first phase having already commenced.
