-Shan Seejattan takes Gp2 pole

Kristian Jeffrey will start on pole for this morning’s Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship ahead of Barbados Mark Maloney and Trinidad’s Kristian Boodoosingh.Jeffrey who posted a 33.592 second time just a shave off the 33.3 lap record at the South Dakota Circuit while his nearest competitor, Barbadian Maloney posted a 34.296 time and Trinidad’s Boodoosingh, a 34.461.
Jeffrey, speaking to Chronicle Sport after confirmed that he had made some changes on the car ahead of the meet and they worked out well.
He added, “We have one or two tweaks to do. This is the first time since we ‘ve got the car in Guyana that its done 33’s and I think we are couple seconds off the lap record tomorrow, something I hope to achieve once the weather is the same tomorrow.”
Fourth on the grid is Kevin Jeffrey (34.763), while Andrew King (34.992) is fifth.
On the two wheel end of things, .1 of a second separates Matthew Vieira from his cousin Elliot as superbike action stole the show yesterday.
Matthew posted a 34.101 time ahead of Elliot’s 34.279s , indicating to Chronicle sport that today’s race will be one of excitement while adding “I’m pretty confident going into tomorrow, lets see how things go.”
Elliot on the other hand concluded that he can make up that dropped time today adding that he can make that “with the right amount of pressure on me. I ride better under pressure.”
Joel Neblett’s 34.404 time puts him third on the grid while no time was recorded for Stephen Vieira.
On the group 3 end of things, Ravi Singh of Trinidad and Tobago sits first ahead of Paul Vieira, a Trinidadian as well while Suriname’s Oliver TjinLeipShie sits third.
Group two which is expected to be a firecracker is led by Guyanese Shan Seejattan who posted a time of 38.148, indicating to Chronicle Sport that “I have got to drive tomorrow, tomorrow is the proving ground and its going to be a battle.”
He is joined by Barbadian Kenrick Husbands (38.499) and current CRMC group 2 point leader Marc Gill (38.537).
Today’s programme commences at 08:30hrs and will also feature the Formula 4 demonstration by Guyana’s Calvin Ming.
