AN elderly Lusignan woman is suffering tremendously from noise nuisance in her neighbourhood where there is a scrap metal business in addition to frequent loud music parties.Jasoda Salikram who resides at Lot 82 Lusignan Pasture, East Coast Demerara, reported to this newspaper that the noise nuisance in her neighbourhood is overbearing.

She said that a neighbour operates a scrap metal business which has filled that property to capacity and has over-spilled to an empty lot and unto the roadside.

Moreover, she related, after normal working hours the situation gets worse because a raging party fuelled by loud music is the order of the night, causing her to get little or no sleep.

The woman said that she lives with her ailing husband who suffered a stroke and spinal injuries while she is a security guard at a private firm in the city and the noise is affecting them a lot.

She said that the fabrication workshop which exports scrap metal opened about four months ago and there is a generator plus loud noises all day.

She is asking the authorities to intervene to bring some form of relief to her since she has already explored several avenues, including reasoning with the neighbour in question. She noted that her husband is sick and with her being on a 16-hour security guard shift the situation is taking a toll on her health as well.
