Rebel bai rebel!

The ‘Mighty Rebel’ was fuming when he visited us yesterday to declare that, after he had taken ill, everyone lost the vision he had projected for the event.“After I took ill, all my ideas were thrown aside and the entire thing became a mess…. I am very disappointed with the outcome of this event. The man who was in charge of securing sponsorshipcALYPSO-2 declared at a meeting that he does not believe in writing letters to sponsors, since they often throw them in their waste basket. I am just wondering how else he expected to secure sponsorship…

“He kept promising that the car was available, but when I suggested that the car be displayed at the National Cultural Centre five days before the event, that never happened.

“Basil Bradshaw was tasked with public relations duties, but I don’t know what happened, since many media houses are claiming they were never officially invited to the event. As a matter of fact, just about two media entities said they were informed only once about the event, by a female via telephone.

“It was Basil who nominated calypsonian Daria Barrow as secretary, and I was shocked to discover that she could not type or use a computer properly.

“The biggest shock of all was that, on the night of the handover ceremony, the four finalists were mortified when they received cash instead of the motorcar and other items promised to them, since they were never informed of such changes at any time.

“I am still at loss as to what actually went down, but this is a slap in my face as well as in the faces of all calypsonians who participated in the event…. The event was not even recorded by a cameraman, even though a committee was tasked with ensuring all of this was in place…”

Well, the ‘Mighty Rebel’ is not the least bit pleased at how things went down, but I have some words of advice for him: Next time yuh doing such an event, find people wid experience in de fields, and place dem tuh function and save yuhself a tsunami of embarrassment.
