A MAN accused of robbing a Venezuelan woman of raw gold and cash at gunpoint at Arau Landing in the Essequibo district was remanded to prison.Appearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Tuesday was 25-year-old Reginald Williams, a miner of Fort Street, Kingston, Georgetown, charged with robbery under arms.
It is alleged that on October 12, 2015, Williams while being armed with a gun, robbed Mariah De Rosano of 70 grams of raw gold, valued $350,000(G) and $350,000 in Venezuelan bolívars.
Williams pleaded not guilty to the offence. The prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones objected to bail on account of the gravity and nature of the offence and the fact that a gun was used during the course of the crime.
