Two men fingered in electronics robbery

TWO men from the East La Penitence area of Georgetown were on Tuesday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan after being fingered in a multi-million-dollar armed robbery at the A.N Electronics store on Croal Street.Alfred Hiscott, 17, of 155 Middle Road,La Penitence,Georgetown and Kenton Vallet, 20, of Lot 47 Middle Road, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and pleaded not guilty to four counts of armed robbery.
It is alleged that on October 23, 2015 in Georgetown, while being in the company of others and being armed with a gun, they robbed Caphel Harriprashad of 43 cell phones valued $1.5M, the property of Neshad Ramnarine.
The second charge read that on the same day at the same location, while being in the company of others and being armed with a gun, they robbed Kevin Moonsammy of one cellular phone valued $45,000and $20,000 cash.
The court further heard that the men robbed Lawrence Fegeira of one Laptop, one gold ring and cash. They are also accused of robbing Caphel Harriprashad of $250,000GYD and $400US.
According to the police report, one of the suspects entered the A.N Electronic Store and began making inquiries about a cellular phone. However, a few moments later another man joined him and ordered the employees in the store to lie on the ground. The two men later escaped after raiding the store of several high-end electronic items and relieving those trapped inside of their valuables.
The men were however apprehended a few days later when the police swooped down on a house at Middle Road and arrested six men in connection with the robbery. During a search conducted on the premises, the police found several cellular phones and an unlicensed .32 revolver along with ammunition.
Police Prosecutor Corporal Deniro Jones told the court that although some of the phones were recovered, the police file was incomplete. The unrepresented Hiscott and Vallet will return to court on November 19 for statements.
