MATCHES in the Ramnarine Appiah (Brother Appiah) Memorial T20 cricket competition for second division teams in the East Canje/Lower East Coast, Berbice area, continued last Sunday with several teams recording wins. At Cumberland, Young Warriors Cricket Club (YWCC) beat Hamid Eleven by 11 runs after they made 107 for 6 off their reduced quota of 15 overs, with Balram Samaroo making 32, Zaheer Moakhan 27 and Alex Algoo 20.
Bowling for Hamid Eleven, 72-year-old Zamin Hamid took 3 for 15 and Hassan Hussain took 2 for 12, both off 3 overs.
In reply, the visitors made 96 for 9 off 15 overs with Hussain scoring 22, and Nazooredeen Bux 21 while YWCC’s Moakan took 2 for 16.
At the Rose Hall Estate ground, the hosts won the toss and made 132 for 9 in 20 overs, Compton Hope top-scoring with 34 while Ameer Rahaman 24* and Kristoff Bahadur 21 were the other scorers. In reply, Canefield SC made 82 all out
In the other match played at the same ground, No.7 batted first against Seawell and made 136 for 4 in their reduced quota of 15 overs due to a late start, while Seawell could muster only 81 for 9 in 15 overs.
At the Goed Bananen Land ground, Canje Pathfinders won both of their games.
In the first match against Canefield SC, Canje Pathfinders inserted Canefield SC who made 134 for 9 in 20 overs then raced to 135 for 4 off 12.5 overs
In game number two, the hosts batted first and made 121 for 9 off 20 while Canje Pathfinders again won, scoring 123 for 2 in 9.4 overs.
Matches will continue this Sunday at Rose Hall where the hosts play Canje Pathfinders and Kendalls Union B take on Betsy Ground.
At Cumberland, Number 7 will play Hamid Eleven while Young Warriors will clash wuth Kendalls Union Big Team
At Goed Bananen Land, the hosts play Kendalls Union big team and Hamid Eleven take on Seawell.
