TRINIDAD and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) president Tim Lee, after deciding to run for re-election, has run into a little bump in his campaign with his vice-presidents announcing they won’t support him.Lennox Watson, Rudi Thomas, and Krishendath Kuarsingh were responding to reports that the TTFA executive were in full support of Tim Kee’s re-election campaign.
Kuarsingh said Tim Kee’s reign as president was marked by complete control to the exclusion of the executive.
Kuarsingh further went on to say that Sheldon Phillips, the TTFA’s general secretary and Tim Kee failed to account for monies the organisation received and, in his opinion, poorly managed those monies.
Thomas, for instance, explained that a finance committee, created to deal with fundraising and headed by Tim Kee did not meet once in three years.
The very public inability of the TTFA to pay staff and players for protracted periods of time has also been suggested as one of the reasons the vice-presidents will not support Tim Kee.
Watson, the other vice-president to say he will not support Tim Kee, has said he will not be seeking re-election. He says he will step aside immediately after the November 29 election.
The TTFA has appointed Elton Prescott SC, Mervyn Campbell and Dinanath Ramnarine to serve on its election committee.
So far, only Tim Kee and president of the DIRECTV W Connection David John-Williams have offered themselves up for election. Deadline for nominations was yesterday. (Sportsmax.com)
