A MAN from East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was released on $100,000 bail by Magistrate Alex Moore when he appeared before him on a charge of having an unlicensed revolver and ammunition in his possession. Devon Garraway of 317 East Ruimveldt pleaded not guilty to the charges which stated that on Sunday, September 6 at East Ruimveldt, he had in is possession a .32 revolver along with 24 matching live rounds, without being the holder of a firearm licence.
Corporal Shawn Gonzales, prosecuting at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, said that the 24-year-old Garraway was arrested by the police during a sting operation and a subsequent search of his person unearthed the gun and ammunition.
Garraway in his defence said that the gun and ammunition did not belong to him. He said he was sent by his roommate to uplift a package which was supposed to contain clothing and food items.
The police prosecutor did not object to bail but requested that it be set at a substantial amount. Garraway will make his next court appearance on November 11.
