FRESH from the success of hosting the first ever Mr Guyana pageant here last year, fashion designer, Paul Burnette is poised to go for it again next year. While the actual event is slated for April 30, 2016, the official launch is set for November at the Duke Lodge on Duke Street in down-town Kingston.
There, six of Guyana’s talented young designers and veteran Burnette, pageant franchise holder, will unveil their ‘Men’s Collection’ for 2015-2016.
The launch will take the form of a fashion show and cocktail reception, and patrons will be given the opportunity to meet with the contestants after they are introduced to the public and sashed.
Contestants will also be competing in their first leg of the competition, this being the runway challenge and national costume competitions.
There will be special performances by young male and female Guyanese artistes, both in the spoken word and song, and the reigning Mr Guyana International, Paul Charles, has a special surprise for patrons.
Burnette has shifted the hosting date to April 30, 2016 so as to give promoters enough time to coordinate better and secure the kind of prizes they hope to achieve for the contestant.
The contestants so far are Delon Grandison, Kefia Smith, Satesh Jagdeo, last year’s finalist Stowell Bentham, Rahael October, Jade Huggins, Alex Jones, Javone Vickorie, and winner of the West Demerara PYARG Pageant, Meshak Howard. The promoters are, however, still looking for two more contestants.
