REGION 2 Chairman, Devanand Ramdatt, has reported that a vacant seat on the Regional Democratic Council [RDC] will shortly be filled. Speaking at the most recent RDC meeting, the Chairman said the Guyana Elections Commission [GECOM] was written to in regard to the vacant seat on the council being filled.
The PPP/C won 12 seats on the Region Two Democratic Council at the National and Regional Elections of May 11 last, while the governing APNU/ AFC coalition won five seats. However, only 11 of the 12 seats allotted to the PPP/C were occupied at the first meeting of the RDC after those elections. The candidate who was to occupy the currently vacant seat, Mr Khemraj Khandai, never showed up at RDC meetings. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
