TWENTY-one–year-old Shonette Gonzales of 73 Dowding Street, Kitty appeared yesterday before city magistrate Ann McLennan and denied the charge that on Saturday, August 29, at Seeta’s Bar in Kitty, she unlawfully wounded Alana Duncan during a bar brawl.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones did not object to bail, but requested that same be granted in a substantial amount, since Duncan had received severe stab injuries and had to be hospitalised.
Curious about the relationship between the two parties, the magistrate enquired and was informed that on the day in question, the two persons were sitting separately at the bar when an argument ensued. The prosecutor said the women were unknown to each other until the bar confrontation, but Duncan explained that they had worked at Seepaul’s Bar together, but Gonzales had been laid off a few months ago.
Gonzales was released on $120,000 bail and was ordered to return to court on October 14. (Clestine Juan)
