KESHON Rhobe of Lot 1720 Priority Place, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared before city magistrate Ann McLennan, on Monday, and pleaded not guilty to a charge detailing that on September 10, at Providence, East Bank Demerara, he had in his possession 30 grammes of cannabis-sativa (marijuana) for the purpose of trafficking in narcotics.
Attorney-at-law, Paul Fung-a-Fat, pleaded that his client be granted reasonable bail, since he was just a visitor to the place where the alleged substance was found. The lawyer explained that Rhobe was visiting his grand-mother-in-law when the illicit drugs were found in a vacant lot.
Police prosecutor Deniro Jones, however, said that according to the prosecution’s facts, the prohibited substance was found in the said yard in which Rhobe was at the time.
The father of three was eventually placed on $200,000 bail, and the matter was transferred to the Providence Court for a September 28 recall. (Geeta Rampersaud)
