PERSONS are being encouraged to help in the battle against non-communicable diseases by living healthy lifestyles, by exercising frequently and cutting back on the consumption of salt and sugar in their diets. This message was issued at a health fair yesterday at the Square of the Revolution, and held to mark Caribbean Wellness Day 2015 celebrated under the theme, ‘Improving the quality of life of the Region’s aging population.’
As many gathered to check out the various health booths, Minister of Public Health Dr. George Norton announced that the administration will be increasing the battle against non-communicable diseases.
This will include increasing the level of sports, fitness activities and programmes in schools, communities and workplaces.
Meanwhile, various health ogranisations from within the ministry and the private sector also offered a wide variety of testing for blood pressure, encouraging the donation of blood and also enlightening persons on how to stay healthy.
