It is felt useful to emphasise these points at this particular period of the nation’s crime-ridden life. There are many obvious and moral reasons why no decent law-abiding person – especially the young – should get involved in the dangerous and insidious drug trade. As seen in foreign movies, as reported in local newspapers and as played out when local deals turn sour, here are reasons to avoid drugs and business:
1) Like any addiction, the drug habit causes you to commit crime, injures your health and messes up your life
2) “Coke-Heads” are outcasts – embarrassments to mother, father and family
3) You never feel safe or secure even when earning money from the business, because others become jealous and the bossman watches every aspect of your life.
4) You can never become a good respected parent once in the business
5) If you are a distributor you are a slave to the dealer
6) Informers and crooked police know you! You can be set-up at any time on the street corner, in your home or at the airport.
7) It is said that even some police stations aren’t safe. Allegedly, as soon as you try to change and tip-off the cops, it is told to your drug bosses.
8) There are all types of drugs wars. Guns and bombs are used to get correct pay, or to win back territory (turf), or to settle grievances.
9) The people you love – your brothers, wives, husbands, sisters or your own children – sometimes become addicted to the drugs and/or the business you are in.
10) When drug wars break out, your own innocent family members are attacked and punished for what you do or didn’t do.
